Frequently Asked Questions

How do I view the VDS celebration of the 2020 graduates?

Follow the VDS Facebook page. We will be broadcasting the student recognition/worship service at 1pm. You do not have to do anything but join us on Facebook from your devices. The live chat feature will be on so we can celebrate in real-time, so invite all the people to celebrate.

How long will the service be? And will it be accessible after it airs?

It’s exactly 47 minutes long. The video will remain on the VDS Facebook page after the broadcast at 1pm. Additionally, you may view it on Vimeo after 2pm.

What will the service contain?

Music, prayers, a charge from the dean, recognition of student degrees/certificates/awards, recognition of retiring faculty and distinguished alumni/ae. Text for prayers, readings, etc. may be found here after the service is broadcast, and the service will also be embedded.

Can anyone view it even if they don’t have Facebook?

Yes! You don’t need to be logged in to Facebook or have an account to view tomorrow’s service. The service will also be posted on our Vimeo page tomorrow afternoon as well for those who would prefer to access it there.

What is the University doing to honor graduates?

A special video and written message from Interim Chancellor Wente will be shared at 9 am on Friday, May 8, to commemorate the occasion along with an email that goes out to all graduating students. The Interim Chancellor will also announce the Founder’s Medalists in a separate video message around 9.30 am.

What about other VU celebrations and graduation information for the Class of 2020?

Visit the VU Commencement landing page. There they have links for all the schools and where they will be posting their graduation-related celebrations. Additionally, you can download zoom backgrounds for the Divinity School (and a table of strawberries for your own champagne toast), find stories from across campus, and stay up-to-date with plans for next year’s celebration. There will also be a digital program you can download.

What hashtags should we use?

The official university Hashtag is #VU2020 for all Class of 2020/Commencement related content. You may also tag us on Twitter at @VUdivinity or Facebook, or use the #ScholaProphetarum

What about the annual drawing for a diploma frame?

The Divinity alumni office is still doing a 2020 Class giveaway. Enter your name and contact information in the  form , you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a VDS diploma frame! A winner will be chosen at random on Monday, May 18, and will be notified via email. The prize will be shipped to the US address provided (they are unfortunately unable to ship internationally).

What other goodies do I get?

All VDS Class of 2020 graduates will also receive a Schola Prophetarum t-shirt and goody bag. Please be sure to enter your t-shirt size and contact information in the  form  to receive these items.

 How else can we celebrate with our VDS community?
