On Care For Our Common Home
Engaging Laudato Si, Pope Francis’s Ecological Justice Encyclical
March 17 - 18, 2016
In his recent encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home (May 24, 2015), Pope Francis explicitly addresses “every person living on this planet” for an inclusive dialogue about humanity’s role in the present and future condition of Earth. The pope describes the ecological situation as urgent. Picking up on both that note of urgency and encouragement for dialogue, “On Care for Our Human Home” will be a series of events in spring semester 2016, bringing expert scholars to campus, stimulating interdisciplinary conversations across the University, making available reflective and spiritual opportunities, and inviting engagement with the wider Metro Nashville community.
