Meditation on Black History Month

Victor AndersonMarking the beginning of Black History Month, Victor Anderson, Oberlin Theological School Professor of Ethics and Society and professor of religious studies as well as African American and diaspora studies, preached at community worship. Anderson called the Divinity School to celebrate Black History Month within our spiritual context by remembering our past beginnings and transitions and by greeting new beginnings and transitions with excitement and affection for those dear friends we will see again. Vanderbilt's Dave Perkins debuts movie soundtrack

DeadlineDave Perkins, a longtime blues/rock guitarist who found his way to Vanderbilt Divinity School and graduated with a master of divinity (2003) and Ph.D. (2011), talked about his newly released soundtrack for Deadline, an independent film shot and produced in Nashville. The movie was inspired by an unsolved murder of an African American teen in rural Alabama. Dave is the associate director of the Religion in the Arts and Contemporary Culture program.
