About The School of Theology at Sewanee:
Sewanee associates itself with the Anglican tradition and offers multiple graduate studies degrees, including a Masters of Divinity, Masters of Arts, an Anglican Studies program, a certificate of Theological Studies, a Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Ministry in Preaching, along with a Masters of Sacred Theology and a Masters of Sacred Theology in Anglican Studies.
With so many programs available, Sewanee hosts an array of publishing faculty along with courses in multiple subjects. Sewanee School of Theology offers courses in Anglican Studies, Biblical Studies, Christian Ethics and Moral Theology, Christian Spirituality, Church History and Historical Theology, Homiletics, Liturgics and Church Music, Missiology, Theology, Theory and Practice, and Research and Writing. Vanderbilt Divinity Students are able to enroll in courses of any of the listed areas of study.
The School of Theology's Purpose Statement:
"The School of Theology educates women and men to serve the broad whole of the Episcopal Church in ordained and lay vocations. The School develops leaders who are learned, skilled, informed by the Word of God, and committed to the mission of Christ's church, in the Anglican tradition of forming disciples through a common life of prayer, learning, and service. Sewanee's seminary education and world-wide programs equip people for ministry through the gift of theological reflection in community."
How to Enroll
Interested in taking a course at The School of Theology? Currently enrolled Vanderbilt students should indicate their interest to their academic advisor to discuss the planned curriculum. Registration must be also approved by the office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Vanderbilt Divinity School.
